Leslie Bendig, Practitioner
I was born and raised in Regina, SK, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Education (specializing in Arts Education, where my other passion lies). After graduation 7 years ago, I moved to Calgary to pursue a teaching career and have been working in the classroom ever since.
Being in a classroom, working with students of all ages, has its rewards. Kids have wonderful imaginations and a curiosity about life. There’s something very nurturing about helping students learn new skills and tools and engaging them to become lifelong learners. As I was moving through my teaching career, the past few years were also filled with personal growth, soul searching, and challenges that I was going through simultaneously, trying to figure out why I felt a yearning to do more. During this time, I received my first Reiki treatment to try and find balance. The following day I felt a shift in how I approached my day, even colleagues commented, noticing how much more calm and relaxed I was after my session. After that initial treatment, I contemplated taking Reiki courses for myself but would always put it off, instead I figured I needed to focus more on my career. But my intuition got louder and in 2013 I took my Level 1 course, as a self healing opportunity. This sparked curiosity and was the very beginning of a path leading to self-awareness of my own personal growth. That same year, inspired by a friend, I took a CranioSacral Level 1 course in Hawaii. This course was one of those life-changing moments for me. Hawaii in itself is a beautiful and spiritual place, and besides receiving healing in my own learning there, it paralleled a shift in my perspective, created uncertainty, and I knew change was inevitable on my own path.
While I love being in a classroom working with students, this shift stayed with me. Teaching has brought me to this new path and journey as well as a passion towards wanting to help others in their own healing journey and well being. I continued as a substitute teacher so I could focus on learning more about how to help others in different modalities outside of the classroom. I continued with Reiki Level 2 and am also a Certified Bowen Therapist. Being in different schools daily has always shown me how dynamic classroom environments are, especially with the diverse needs students have in their learning, health and well-being. I began to notice more and more a gap in how I wanted to teach and help people, at any age, than what I could do in a classroom setting.
All of my experiences have led me to the present where I am interested in helping and working with different diverse and special needs, to see how it can help students in their daily classroom activities, as well as help those who are experiencing pain/dis-ease, whether long withstanding or new. This has brought to light an intrigue and passion in learning about how holistic healing approaches can address these symptoms and result in balance and well being, at any age.

I was experiencing TMJ pain- Stephanie CI was experiencing TMJ pain after a recent break-up. My TMJ was extremely tight, to the point that it hurt to open my mouth, to speak, eat or yawn. I decided to visit Leslie to find some relief and see if she could help with this issue. I saw Leslie for a one-hour session that included a combination of CranioSacral and Bowen Therapy. Immediately after the treatment, I felt extremely relaxed; the experience itself is very pleasant. Leslie has a very calming demeanor, and accurately found the areas that I was experiencing pain. After the appointment, I felt immediate relief in my jaw, it had continued to loosen up even over the course of the afternoon and over the next couple days my jaw was completely pain-free! It is now two months later, and I have not felt any subsequent pain. I will definitely be back again to work on other issues.

He is excited to come to Stillpoint Bodyworks and moves the practitioner’s hands to where they need to be that session.
